I was supposed to go running yesterday, but for some reason I was rather tired and lacking in motivation (something to do with seeing in the New Year with copious quantities of Champagne, I fear). My other half commented on my lapse in get up and go (which is rich as his got up and went years ago). However he made a throwaway comment that if I ran today he would come out on his push bike with me. I thought he was joking, but this morning, as I leapt out of bed and into my running gear, he repeated the offer and started layering up ready for the slow cycle alongside me.
I was using the Stamina Podcast this morning on my hilly route, and it was good to have the company, spurring me on during the faster bits. I was even proud to be able to beat him up the hills.
Now to see if I can persuade him to come out for a Day After New Year's Day walk!!

That's great getting the oh out with you! I walk & run with my OH, well run when she's back fully recovered from surgery she had back in October, I aim to help her back to full fitness in the Spring and start running some Parkruns again eventually..😊
That's good that you're supporting my OH. Mine is fully behind my wanting to get fit as he was really scared this time last year when I got my cancer diagnosis, but I don't think he wants to go as far as getting fit himself, unfortunately. I keep suggesting he accompany me to the gym on my non running days, but I do that alone too.
I can say I was quite worried when Slinky was diagnosed with a large thyroid goitre growing down in her chest, so the operation was a bit more than standard thyroid op, anyway, all healing nicely and the goitre was found to be benign..We went out for a walk in the sunshine today and she lagged well behind me, could tell how she had lost her fitness, but don't think it'll take much for her to get that back again..
That great. Team work. Perhaps it will become a habit ?
I was going to do one off new years day park run but relative duties got in the way and would have difficult to fit in . The park run started at 10.30 . Also it was raining pretty heavy.
But looked at the report and results and there were 150 runners on it. so well done to them.
I got out this morning at 9.30 but still slippy underfoot. Nearly did splits but recovered. Walked mostly downhill to canal and ran 30 minutes then another few minutes running back up hill towards home.
So hopefully get back into groove and lose few pounds now mince pies gone and xmas pudding hidden away till Easter.
I'm still grazing my way through some of the Christmas goodies - the tin of Heroes has only just been opened, and I'm doing my best to ignore them (but not doing very well).
I like the idea putting the Christmas pudding away until Easter! Good self discipline.
Happy New Year to you, and good luck with the ballet moves (the splits 🤣)
