Just completed run2 of wk1 after completing run1 yesterday. I'm running every day mon-fri with 1 or 2 rest days over the weekend (depending on how I feel). This is the routine that I've been used to before starting c25k and this is what seems to suit my body best so I've decided to stay with it! The intervals on c25k are different to what I'm used to and I'm out of practice lately so its definitely hard going (makes you realise how quickly you lose fitness levels just from having a break for a few weeks!). I always love the feeling of elation that finishing a run gives and I definitely feel that today- proud of myself for getting back to it. Now just need to keep with it! Thanks so much for the support and good luck to all those on their own c25k journeys

Wk1 2nd run!
Great run. Now we would normally say on here it's not advisable to run on consecutive days , at least 1 rest day between each run to prevent injury.
From what you've posted you were already running before starting c25k is that correct 😊
Hi! Thanks for your reply. Yes, I started running to get fit at the start of the year. I was away for a month at the end of June and since then my running has been hit and miss which is why I've started couch 2 5k to get me back on track. When you advise a rest day in between rather than running each day, can I still do other exercise on the rest day instead? I just know that too many rest days do not work for me which is why I try not to have them or just have one at the weekend. I get really achey and out of a routine if I only exercise every other day
Wells done.
When you run, unlike other non impact exercise, the impact creates microtears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, there is no repair, no strengthening and so an increased injury risk, which is why it is recommended that new runnners do not run on consecutive days for a minimum of six months regular running.
Please take your rest days, as advised in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Well done!! We can totally do this x
