W8R3 feeling so good about my run - I can do this.

So this morning I was up early to do w8r3. Having had a few days off I was really up for the challenge, feeling really good and all in all it really went well.

The outward 14 mins I was hitting a head wind and this was really new to me but I coped and I felt it didn’t hinder me.

Turning around to run the 14 mins back to the start I had now run further than ever before and when Laura said I have 5 mins left I was surprised I was ahead of my time. I think because I have had markers for the last two runs of where I was at, at certain times along the run.

With a minute to go I upped the pace a little and finished way past where I started. Got home and get this - I looked at my strava and it had only recorded 0.08 of a mile & 57 seconds ! Argh 😤 was it a problem having it in my pocket as I usually just carry my iPhone in my hand ? I’m off to get an arm strap from Argos now before work and see how I go with that - anyone else had this problem with strava ?

That said I was really chuffed with my run, gonna try some knee strengthening & IT band exercises Ive seen recommended in the group as Ive suffered with them in the past & looking forward to week 9 and qualifying - woop woop bring it on ! Have a fantastic weekend everybody 🖐

Yes I got one from Argos this afternoon, it’s a bit small for my phone & I may need to prize it out of its case & see if it’ll then fit. Thanx, yes I’m really lucky where I live in the Lancs/ Cumbria border with the canal nearby.

If it's to small I'm sure you could return it . Look for one online that fits your phone better 😊

Yes, need it to be secure - don’t really want to lose it ! 😬

The Argos “Nike alarm Armband” £17.99. The write up states it is compatible with most smart phones.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and is too big for this arm strap, so I’m returning it tomorrow morning. I’ve had a look in amazon and there is a product suitable for my phone for £7.99 (Lovphone) less than half price !

I got a big standard arm strap from home bargains for £1.99 fits my Samsung S9 in its case. Return the overpriced one and get to home.bargains.

Sounds like a really great run... and that leads into your victory lap!

Strava and similar sometimes fail us, no matter... the important data is that you ran 28 minutes.

Thank you, yes I’ll be imagining a victory lap - more like gasping for air though haha 🤣

Never thought I’d do 28 minutes but three days this week it’s done - bring on Monday 👍

Congratulations and well done - beautiful photo. I don’t use Strava so I’m afraid I can’t help with that. I use map my run and have my phone in my pocket. I have only had one problem like yours and disappointingly it was my graduation run! Thankfully I did my first Parkrun on that day so I did at least have a time.

Hope you get the problem sorted and happy running.

Fantastic, well done you...lovely route too. The arm strap will be a godsend and hopefully stop Strava from misbehaving! Enjoy your final week 😊🏃‍♂️👍

The only run I didn't finish (despite struggling lots of times) was in week 7 when I remembered halfway through that I'd forgotten to start my Strava app. It doesn't make any sense, but psychologically it planted seeds in my mind of the run 'not counting', and that was enough for me to eventually stop!

Strange relationship we have with our trackers!

Well done on the run - I'm about to tackle week 8.

Ive forgotten to set strava too - I was really disappointed ☹️ yes it’s almost like if not recorded it doesn’t count 😕

Strava sometimes does that to me, particularly when open water swimming, when I have it in my dry-float - I appear to sink without trace! Odd occasions when it’s lost me when running I’ve assumed I’ve accidentally touched the screen clumsily. Main thing is you know you did a cracking good run, so well done you!

Yes I know what you mean, you’ve caught it by accident & your cursing it all day ! Thanx - yes it was a good one & looking forward to this next week now 👍
