Hip problems, and a vicar

Hi, I was woken from a lovely sleep yesterday morning, having traveled for 16 hours in a coach down from Scotland. Looking out of my window, there is my Vicar, “you doing the Park Run” ‘oh dear lord’, it YES, before I have time to think about it. He is 10 years older than me.

My hip is not sound at the moment, I need Chiropractic treatment! ( I work in the care industry[say no more]).

So off I go this morning, I knew I just needed to finish. I knew I was slow, just uncomfortable running. After he has completed his 5 k he comes to find me, and runs with me home. It wasn’t really the hand of God, but it helped. I could just about crawl back to the car!

Thank you.

Not my worst run, but 3 mins off my best.

Must get myself fit before next week.

There is hope for me!

Maybe a few running rest days for you until you are not on any pain. Well done you 😊

Well done to you & your caring Vicar. Now be sensible & rest that hip. You know what you ought to do to enjoy it next week!

There are no less than THREE people in my church small group who have run marathons! And the vicar does Parkrun at significantly less than 30 mins! And there's me just about managing PR in under 40 (for now!) . And the time-keeper in today's PR was my GP who did the London Marathon this year in 3:17! (His PR times are around 22-23)

And yet with all this skill around it's still amazing how encouraging people are.

Parkrun is a wonderful phenomenon. Almost like a secular church and how a church should be when everyone builds each other up.

We actually had that conversation this morning. It is a congregation of people, working together for the greater good.
