1st Parkrun (Walsall) under my belt at last! Went Ok. Good atmosphere. Time could have been better but 32.11 not too bad. Age graded (74) 57.9%. More experienced said although course is flat ish paths are narrow so getting past other folks can add to time. Given location of another park run close by with wider paths so might try that sometime soon.

That sounds great and a very good time too. I am surprised that your age grading is only 57.9% if you are 74 years old, I'd have thought it would be quite a lot higher.

Thank you. Checked results and above me a runner on VM 70-74 range ran at 26.48 and got an age grading of 66.6%. Looks like I've got to run quicker 🙂

There must just be a lot of very fit 70+ year olds! Which is great. ☺

Yes there are, I am always second in my age grading as there is this man in the 70/75 age group who regularly runs a 26 minute 5k Parkrun and his age grading is also about 66%, I am around 54% at 33 minutes.

Brilliant you did your first parkrun and yes it is a bit strange when you're used to running on your own to running with lots of people. Glad you enjoyed it 😊

Thanks. Yes on my own I've got used to a set pace. At times this was slow down to let faster runners past before I could pick up speed again to overtake the bunch in front. All a learning curve.
