After few awful runs after graduating.... With couple of them not barely to run 15 minutes... Yes 15 minutes!!! But today, I did the very slow run as I wanted to enjoy... I ENDED UP DOING A 5K!!!!๐ฎ. Time wasn't important to me but I ran for 43 minutes!!! ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ.... I actually enjoyed this very much and I also felt I achieved something! Things I learnt on this run...
1) Go to well lit areas when the sun comes down... I caught one area I couldn't see a thing and I got lost.... thankfully I saw somewhere I recognised...
2) Don't wear new running clothes for a long run. Go with your trusted ones!!! I ended with chaffing in my thighs as I have bought a lovely short... BIG MISTAKE...
3) Faith in myself was restored after really crap runs, and I also need to be kinder with myself, as I am a newbie... And of course I will make mistakes!!!
And that's it.... What will the next run bring??? ๐
Thank you!!! I have a bit of love/hate relationship with running. Runs I really enjoy I can count one hand, the rest let's say I didn't enjoy but not hating either, but I love the feeling afterwards. Maybe I will have more days I love running? But yes, I learn every time.... ๐
I hit a real brick wall when I 'failed' a run after graduating. I ran out of steam and completely lost my confidence. I was doing 5k runs 3 times a week and when one day I couldn't, it hurt. Instead of posting here and getting advice (I did eventually) I let it affect me. I then got very ill to the extent that I went back and did the whole programme again from scratch. I 're-graduated' a few weeks ago and I'm back to 5K 3 times a week but this time my attitude is much better. I will go with the flow and not worry if I have a shorter run because any run is better than no run and I'm just grateful to have the opportunity to get out at all. Best wishes.
