It was my Dads 70th Birthday and I joined my family to celebrate last night with a lovely Dinner. We all stayed over in my parents home and this morning I got up and ran my 48th parkrun in Mullingar with my brother, sister, wife and my two Sons. It was my eldest sons 20th parkrun. Oisin (eldest son 10) and I ran together and finished in a time of 27:07, although we actually ran 26:56 as I had delayed getting going at the start line. It was a beautiful morning, beautiful parkrun, quality time with family and we celebrated afterwards with a beautiful breakfast.π

A very happy birthday to your dad from Alan in Scotland Damien, that was a fantastic time for you and your son at this morning's Mullingar Parkrun considering the meal you had last night. Lovely photo of you all.
As for me, I ran my fourth parkrun at Dunfermline this morning, time was 33.31, a little slower than last week, nevertheless, I enjoyed the run, I am getting to know a few runners who run it in around that time as well.
Enjoy and relax for the rest of the day, by the way, I listen to one of my favourite radio stations from Ireland named RTE Gold, the great Larry Gogan is still going strong.
Thanks Alan. It was a great morning. I spent the afternoon with my brother and Dad getting fitted for suits for my brothers upcoming wedding in October.
Larry Gogan will never retire. I think he is well into his 80βs now and he still adores radio. I grew up listening to him.
Thank you. Yes it was lovely to be together. My brother came through the finish funnel in 9th position in a time of 21:30. He is a football player and is pretty fit. It was great and a beautiful morning. I did that same parkrun course 2 years ago and finished in 36 minutes. I was 9 minutes faster this morning. So got a PB.π
What a lovely post ! Well done to you and your family . We visited Mullingar while touring S Ireland a few years back. My daughter's father in law is originally from there - moved to Scotland when he met his wife to be - it's a lovely area.
My parents live in Tullamore but there is no parkrun there. But there are 2 which are 30 mins away in the car. Mount Lucas and Mullingar. Mullingar is a lovely flat course. 2.6K our along a canal and 2.4K back along a lovely greenway parallel to a disused railway line. It was a lovely scenic route.
Thanks it was really good. I must go back and try it again sometime on my own. I had to hold back a little on the 3rd and 4th kilometre as my little guy was struggling a little with the pace. It is flat and would be a good parkrun to chase a PB time.
