I am not sure what has happened this morning regarding our friend Damien's result page for (not) parkrun, so if he does not set up a page I'll set one up here for anyone who wants to post a result of their (not) parkrun for Saturday 18th July

I ran my 5th (not) parkrun at 9.30 in a time of 33.56, I enjoyed my run today, so if anyone else wishes to report the result you can do it on this post, unless Damien is a little late in doing so, post it on his.

Hello Al, I was thinking of doing the same thing as I’ve been keeping an eye out. I hope he’s ok, maybe one too many Sols last night?

That’s a good time for you, glad you enjoyed it.

Katnap and I both struggled a bit today. He was suffering post takeaway tummy this week, I’m still recovering from a sore Achilles and sunburn from a big walk on Thursday to celebrate eldest kitten’s 18th (I was so happy to get out and do something different I completely forgot myself and left caution to the wind!).

I have three times as i want to be honest here - if I just put the first one down no one will believe me: according to my watch I did it in 29:59, according to the Garmin app I did it in 30:00 and according to Strava I did it in 30:01. All my pals on Strava say take the watch time, so I’ll go with that 😁

Happy running everyone and hope you’re ok Damien 🤞

Definitely take the watch time :)

Definitely Sue 👍😊

I would go by the watch time, indeed its a sub 30 minute 5k, congratulations.

Thanks Al, yes I agree. I’m very pleased with it all things considered.

Yahoo. Congratulations on your sub 30 minute 5K time. Great running. All is good thanks. Was just away with my family and I’d left my phone in my car for 2 days. I completely forgot to post earlier this morning.

Hi Damien! Good to hear from you! I think we could all do with leaving our phones in our cars for two (or more!) days occasionally. Hope you’re having a good time, and thank you 😊

Good move AlMorr.

Perhaps Damienair is baking. Or having a live-in.

My first run in my new t-shirt - very comfortable but I am a bit disappointed that it didn't live up to the promise.

Well, I read the label "Our sheer speed fabric has in-built performance features" and took it to mean that I was certain to get a pb today :)

Nope, just in my normal range 36.05.

But a very nice run in the rain, although my post-(not)parkrun return to the post-(not)parkrun breakfast was a run/walk rather than a walk.

Now working through my list of post-run tasks:

* Sync Garmin

* Update spreadsheets- run log, (not)parkrun log, GNR Solo log, End to End log (includes conversion from km to miles).

* Update websites with results - (not)parkrun, GNR, End to End

* Report in - to this forum, to local running pals WhatsApp group, to Aberdeenshire running pals WhatsApp group.

* Update running blog if anything worth reporting.

Have another cup of tea :)

It all gets so complicated doesn’t it?!

RunaroundSue profile image
RunaroundSue in reply to TailChaser

Yes, I'm not taking on any more challenges for now!

Although I was the one who wasn't bothered with challenges, "just enjoy the run", I said :)

That's a good run and time for you Sue, certainly a new one on me, a T Shirt which the fabric is supposed to make you run faster, I have heard of shoes doing that but a T Shirt 👚 🏃🏾, the length manufactures go to make you buy a T Shirt, you have a busy day with that list of post run tasks. 😊 🏃🏾

Geoff says it is like "go faster stripes" on a car :)

Good for you Al, another good run. I went to a physio last Saturday with regards to my calf, he confirmed there was a slight tear and instructed me to rest for a week. I'll be going fir my first run in a week either today or tomorrow.

Hope you are well👍🏃‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

AlMorr profile image

Sorry about your calf injury tear CM, take the advice of your physio and rest reading all the reports of running on this forum, once you have started running take it slowly.

I am keeping very well thank you.

Cockneymick profile image
CockneymickGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Thanks, I've rested it for over a week now and have some supports to put in my trainers. I'm going to purchase a proper pair of running shoes.

First run tonight or tomo morning will be a light jog.

Good luck for your next run!

I hope you are well and progressing👍🏃‍♂️

Well done to everyone who completed a (not) park run this morning. I don't know if I dreamt it or read it somewhere but I thought there was talk of the last (not) park run being the last (not) Park run? 🤷‍♀️

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to 59er

I got a e mail as I usually get on a Saturday, one of the heading was "(not) parkrun continues for another week" but under that it says 'not parkrun is going strong' when I look at the amount of runner's who are doing not parkrun its not all that many compared to the official ones, my not parkrun has been run on average by about 30 runners, the official one is on average 140, so whether the organisation wants to continue, we will just have to wait and see.

59er profile image
59erGraduate in reply to AlMorr

That's possibly what I saw AlMorr, not that it makes any difference to me atm. Perhaps my ankle will recover by the time the 'real' park run recovers! 🤞

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to 59er

It doesn't matter too much although I like them, I will still run virtual parkruns, this morning was my 18th, it is now 18 weeks since any parkruns were ran in the UK, they might begin again in October, I do emphasise the word MIGHT.

Update:they won't

RunaroundSue profile image
RunaroundSue in reply to AlMorr

I would be surprised if it is any sooner

RunaroundSue profile image
RunaroundSue in reply to AlMorr

I would think that now they have set up the new results page they will leave it running. It probably doesn't take much work to manage it.

And people shouldn't be disputing their results - because they entered them themselves :)

But you are right, there are not many people doing the (not) parkruns, maybe because they are all doing longer runs!

Thanks to Damienair, we were already doing them. We just have an official place to post our results.

AlMorr profile image

PS, it is now past 8pm and no word at all from Damien.

PS Damien has just posted.

I don’t know if they’ll continue (not) parkrun when parkrun is back... last I heard they hadn’t decided that. If they’re not going to, it would be great to hear from them that the last one is coming! They promised to give parkrun core teams two weeks notice of resumption and honoured that and also the none in June statement when New Zealand became restriction free... and they’re doing a lot of learning there I’m sure. I also believe they don’t want to start individual parkruns back up until the whole of a territory is ready, so as well as watching Boris we also have to watch Nicola, Elin and Arlene for a signal that UK parkrun will return.

As above, I don’t see (not) parkrun being much, if any, extra work for parkrun HQ... so can’t see it stopping before the (not) is not needed.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to UnfitNoMore

On Monday you or any one could phone them up and ask if (not) parkruns are continuing or not.

At the bottom of the e mail every one gets is the address and a 📞 telephone number of the organisation that runs parkruns, I don't want to publish it here as that might infringe copyright privicy but that number is at the bottom of the page.

Evening AlMorr,

I just just finished my 5K for the evening and managed a time off 29.26. First 5K under 30 minutes so chuffed. Feel on top of the world at this moment in time.

Your all doing great and my inspiration comes from all of you guys. This is a great forum and just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the support. Really helps to keep the motivation high. 👍🏻👍🏻.

I have posted the tracker from today’s run. Managed to get good pace from the start. Felt great. Onwards and upwards from now on.

Thanks for starting this thread Al. As you know, I have done my own post today . My time was 35:03 today and during that time UTS popped into a restaurant to book us a table for breakfast and then caught me up again so we finished together. He was running much slower than his normal pace so probably didn’t even enter it.

Happy running everyone

I only started this thread today because our friend Damien had not posted anything by the time I came back from my 5th (not) parkrun at 10.30 this morning, just after 8 this evening he apologised because he had left his phone in his car for two days and he will be running his not parkrun tomorrow.

You will now be known as damienair ’s second in command Al.

Well done Al and thank you so much for carrying on this thread. Feels weird that I didn’t run today. I’m going to make up for it and log a (not)parkrun tomorrow morning instead.

By the way, did you see the Blog post on parkrun email this week? I’ve attached the link below. That’s me and Oisin.

That’s a brilliant post for not parkrun Damienair. I was thinking of submitting something but keep forgetting to ask the others if they mind their photos being sent in. Lovely to see Oisin again too. I notice you didn’t say that he doesn’t see the point in not parkrun 🤣🤣

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to damienair

Good Sunday morning to you Damien, I have just read that brilliant post from you regarding Navan parkrun and such a nice photo of you and your son, you say that you will be volunteering at the first official Parkrun at Navan once they return, whenever that will be???, parkrun's could begin at different times in the UK and Ireland when they do return.

Enjoy your not parkrun this morning.

This morning just after 9 I will be going on a short 🚲 bikeride while you will be running 🏃🏾, have a great day.

Regards

Alan in Scotland.

I completed a (not) Parkrun this morning. I have 2 times. The first is from my Fitbit which was 29.04 (a PB) and the other from strava of 30.12. I tend to take the strava result as the one I trust and this is the one I posted on (not) Parkrun. So close to a sub 30 min 5k (or not if you believe the Fitbit).

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to EThomas

You are a very honest person, most people would have posted the quickest time, especially when it was sub 30 minutes for the 5K, congratulations on completing your run today.

EThomas profile image
EThomasGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Thank you. The result on Strava is around my usual time for running a 5k. I did a quick measurement of the route on google maps and I was nowhere near 5k when the Fitbit said I was.
