Has anyone tried Jeff Galloway's Run Walk Run method? Someone mentioned it here a while ago. Thought I might try it as have done the couch to 5km program a few times over the last 3 years and have a recurring foot injury. From what I can gather you break your run up by running for 5 minutes and walking for 1 minute. I'm thinking this might be less stress on the feet.

Run walk run method
No, but it sounds like a bit of a combination of weeks 3 and 4 of C25K
Yes I did it a few years ago and it definitely works. I got up to 10k non stop running using his plan. If I remember right after a few weeks you increase the running intervals but his (and others) advice is that it is not rigid and that you should always take a walk break before you get tired. I believe that inexperienced marathon runners can complete a marathon faster this way than those that are determined to run but get exhausted along the way
I was using this method a few years ago while training with a friend. There is no doubt that it works. The key is not running to exhaustion before stopping like most do when just running/walking without a set goal. I found it worked well, but I found it hard to switch back to straight running. It's like you condition your body to walk. Looking back now, I believe I ran faster in those intervals than when straight running and that is maybe why I found it hard to transition back to running without walking breaks. But it is definitely a great method that works.
It’s tried and trusted. There are pages of his stats on the web, or there’s a book The run/walk times vary depending on the undertaking and the level you’re at fitness wise I did my first marathon using this method. The C25k app uses run walk just the same 😃
