Unintended Consequences

This is all thanks to Pianism's get togethers. We all met at Sale for a run (May?) and I'd forgotten what a nice place it is to spend an afternoon. So, the next day I and my non-running beloved go for a walk. And we see swimmers in the lake. Cold,I thought, but it looks like fun. At a Parkrun later there was talk of open water swimming and, importantly for me, the availability of wetsuits. After much dithering I finally made it there yesterday. Without a wetsuit and I am now hooked on open water swimming. I swam 500m yesterday and plan to swim 1500 before the season ends. With or without a wetsuit.

We're a bit landlocked here in Manchester. I used to live near the sea and miss being there but when I tried dipping a toe in chickened out.

I lived in Margate for 2 1/2 years before heading north. Miss the heat and the sea but love it up here otherwise.

Wow!

Well done. But rather you than me - I am not a great swimmer

Oh, good lord! I can't be held responsible for open-water swimmers! Haha

How fantastic. Doesn't appeal to me either though I do love swimming (I like clean water where I can see what's beneath me).

It was lovely to not have other swimmers impeding my progress and to not come out smelling of chlorine with sore eyes. And there were fishies!
