I walk/jog/run 6K or so two or three times a week. It's not fast or elgant but I do it.
But if I suggest a walk to my dear husband I'm met with cries of horror at anything over 5 K at a slow walking pace. I've just dragged him and our daughter (30 and 6 ft tall, not a child with short legs) just over 8K. We had to stop for a picnic lunch and had plenty of water to drink.
I could have done it in half the time and had to keep slowing my walking speed. I find it very frustrating and I was getting techy 😠 especially when they were asking how much further it was from about half way.
So is it just me being impatient or do others have the same problem?

Are you expecting them to be more able because you are?
My husband and I are long distance walkers, did Hadrians wall last month but I would not expect other people to walk like us.... Just use the time as family bonding time and training for them! Also my husband was a marathon runner and accompanies me on my very slow runs... He never complains as he is almost walking as I am sweating and plodding along..... Some are good at some things and others just haven't got there yet!
Don't sweat the speed and enjoy the family time together. Stop and take photos, laugh and have fun. The more often they come walking the faster they will walk naturally.
