Gutted is not a big enough word.

I did Parkrun this morning and beat my previous PB by 24 seconds - all well and good. BUT I am SO furious with Fatbitch. As I usually do, I kept an eye on my pace (rather than distance or time elapsed) to try and keep a consistent speed through the whole run. Pace was fast, but I put that down to some of it being downhill. Finished the 5k course, and the stupid thing says I've run 7.2k, so of course it thinks I'm Speedy Gonzalez!!

This calls into doubt my Thursday night run of 5k in 30 minutes. Perhaps it wasn't that at all. Seems unlikely, given that I've just done 5k (albeit on a much hillier course) in 42 minutes. I'm feeling demoralised and angry with technology.

Breath, you’ve done a 5 k parkrun, enjoy. I had fit bit melt down last week. Just take what your Parkrun email says. It’s the doing that’s important.

You're right. I've done 5k and it's the first time I've ever run all of Parkrun (my local one is quite hilly and the hills kill me). I'm happy enough with the Parkrun result - it's just I was so elated on Thursday, running 5k in 30 minutes, and now I don't know if it was true.

I have just done my Park Run, with hills. Train for hills, it will make a difference. I could probably do a good time on a treadmill, but I run in the country side. I use onthego, it’s a way of planning routes, it has a terrain setting, so you can add a few hard bits in.

Well done, as someone said to me. Your Saturdays will never be the same again.

You had a difficult day the other day and got out there and ran for half hour. And today a 5K with hills when most sensible folks were just getting out of bed! F#$k fitbit and her inaccuracies...you are awesome, very well done 🏅

Thank you, I needed that x It's all relative eh? I couldn't even run for 30 seconds at New Year. And my Thursday run was a regular route - it usually records as 4.2k, but I started running and recording a bit earlier than usual, so it's possible it was 5k anyway.

Sounds like it was there abouts anyway...these machines and apps do serve a purpose but I'm thinking one of them is to drive us crackers 😉

Any specific recommendation? (I've just been made redundant, so can't afford to spend loads)

I’ve got the 35. Does everything you need 👍🏽 You could try tracking using your phone if you run with that? Strava is ok but can be a bit weird 🤣

Thank you. Yes, I've downloaded Strava. I'll have a look at Garmin's.

I have a perfect Garmin Forerunner 15 which I bought 2 years ago on eBay for £20. It is perfectly accurate and has served me well for the last 2 years. So no need to spend a fortune. There is a men’s version and a ladies version. Only difference between them is colour and size.

Fit bits are very inaccurate. Fine for step counting but that’s all.
