Did my first Parkrun this morning! Had a burst of torrential rain while we were gathering at the starting line which let up as soon as we set off. A friend from work offered to give me a lift to the course so I would have an accountability partner so I went despite waking up with a cold.
My first impression is that it's much harder to pace yourself with so many people around you! I think I went too fast at first and between that and my cold (and being damp from the 30 second downpour) I did end up walking the 4th kilometre but picked it up again for the 5th and still managed to do it at a similar time to the 5k runs I've done on my own so not too bad!
I think I enjoyed the experience overall so hopefully will be back!

Brilliant, well done. I agree, first one today and went off too fast, not used to tuning with other people. Loved it though ππ»ππ»ββοΈππ»
Walking a bit is absolutely fine, I am regularly passed by people who walk a bit, it's not cheating, it's a strategy π. Such a shame you had a cold to contend with, don't let that dampen your sense of achievement ππ
