Challenge staying hydrated...

I've had a quick search through the forum, and most posts seem to point towards Flipbelt, but was wondering if anyone else could recommend water bottles/belts that they like.

Started extending my consolidation runs, and have noticed that I need water. I've tried a couple of different bottles, and have found that I end up warming up my water so much that I don't want to drink it.

Just looking for some real wisdom from experience here.

I tend to carry a bottle I can slip over my hand for runs if over 5k and I think I paid £3 at sports direct.

Warming the water is actually a great thing to do this time of year... if it’s cold it promotes the blood flow to the early intestinal tract and that warms the body up a little. I sip water all day every day but allow the water to be room temperature before is start sipping.... it’s also much easier than cold water to drink in the winter.

If you hydrate regularly throughout each and every day, whether running or not, then you should not need to take in any fluids on any run of less than an hour, unless you have a specific health issue or it is very hot.

The fluid you take in during the preceding twenty four hours has far more influence on your body than anything that you drink while running.

As UnfitNoMore states warm water is better for you than cold in that it helps maintain, rather than reduce, core temperature.

My pre run drink of choice is 1 to 6 diluted apple juice, using lukewarm water, with a pinch of salt in hot weather.

I have a single bottle belt for longer runs, but think a twin bottle one would be better balanced.

Thank you for your replies. Certainly didn't realise that warm is better than cold. Might stick at what I've got.

I get the preceding hydration point, but I've been getting a really dry mouth/throat recently during running, so thought water is best whilst running

A dry mouth may be more to do with you not being used to breathing hard through your mouth, rather than actual thirst........if you feel thirsty, then drink, that is a golden rule........we are all different, so do what suits you.

The Zikee is great with two small water bottles.. use one or both...lots of us have them :)

Unless really hot .. no water needed if you hydrate well every day.. :)

I like to drink lots during the day, but still like to carry water with me. I have a water belt with up to 4 small bottles that attach to it. Carrying water with me feels like a safety blanket and it’s sooo nice on my cool down walk.
