Good morning. I managed a Parkrun yesterday all by myself. Came 838th but was proud of myself! Pushed myself more than I normally would. And I completed W7R1 during the week too.
Parkrun - first of many!: Good morning. I... - Couch to 5K
Parkrun - first of many!
That is brilliant - especially by yourself! I did my first one too yesterda6 but with three friends, all of whom run regularly... was a nervous wreck, so am full of admiration for you - huge congrats!
Congratulations on completing your first 5k Parkrun, well done, that is a large event with so many people taking part, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 7.
Well done angie - you’re quite right to feel proud!
838th - Crikey. Maximum attendance where I run is just over 500, usually more like 400 or 300 if it rains. Braving the crowds and finding somewhere to park must have been just as challenging as the run! Very well done indeed.
Wow well done! That’s amazing, I’m thinking I won’t even attempt a parkrun until after I finish, so I’m really impressed 😵👏🏻
Thank you. I was desperate to try it and use my barcode lol.
😄 I printed mine out a couple of days ago 😯
I came 838th and the last person got in at 891 or something like that and well over an hour. And they have volunteers who walk with the last runners which is nice.
Wow angie, congratulations! You chose a big, big Parkrun to start your journey. We’ve done that one and it is about double the size of our local. However, it is extremely well organised and, personally, I loved it!! I didn’t realise it was the second biggest after Bushy, no wonder the cafe struggles afterwards!
Did you have pacers? They are really handy. We have them very rarely at ours but they are really helpful to judge how fast you are going if you don’t have a Fitbit or Garmin type watch. When we were at Southampton they’re were quite a few between 20 and 35 minutes.
Enjoy! You’re at the start of a great Saturday morninglove affair 😃
Thank you 😊🏃♀️ yes apparently they do have pacers. I assume you would have to ask in advance to make sure someone was available. The Common is the closest to me and I fancied the shady trees, although there were stills parts of the run in full blast of the sun (thankfully it was mostly cloudy) and it wasn't hilly really (I hate hills!). I plan to do it again this weekend if I can persuade my partner to join me (he hasn't run for years, but reckons his 'muscle memory' will help 😂
Lol! Good luck to him, his lungs may have other ideas 😁 I think the pacers were just there. Maybe it’s a ‘big run’ thing to try and organise people? It was certainly less of a bun fight at the start than our local. How lucky you are to have that as you’re local! We did it when we visited my uncle who doesn’t live that far from it. Have fun!
