Running in the dark

I know this is forward planning but I have noticed that it is starting to get darker. I tend to run early in the morning along a towpath.I was wondering how you experienced runners cope with the long winter days. Can anyone recommend a good headtorch or any other required gear? Obviously Hi Vis clothing is important.

Will be interested on this too. Up at 5 for my runs and don’t fancy running in the dark. Although at least now if someone jumps out I’ve got half a chance of running away. 🏃🏻‍♀️😳🏃🏻‍♀️😳

I’m already starting to worry about this too. Although that’s when running club might be an option. Bought a great head torch on Amazon that recharges using a usb connection. Excellent compared to old battery one. It was bought for walking the dog but I think will work for running too.

I've seen several rechargeable headtorchs on Amazon, just wondered if anyparticular ones are better? Think being creative will be the secret to keeping going through the winter.

Aennon it was basic and about £15 so I was suspicious that it was okay. But has been very good.

When I started running almost a year ago, I set three rules: no running in the rain, in mud or in the dark.

Living in Cornwall, the first two went by the board early on. But I still won’t run in the dark: I’ll drive in the dark but won’t start until daybreak. If I’m on the road I’ll be hi-vizzed like a Christmas tree and never with headphones.
