Anyone running in lanzarote?

I’ve noticed there’s no races to enter either for August

Could be a tough one though 🤣

Yikes! I've not even attempted walking up the Famara cliffs - I can't imagine running.

But they are stunning to look at from a distance, or from the boat on the way to La Graciosa

I was trying to decipher the title... looks like more than a 2 degree incline to me

I just looked more closely at the photo. They are running past Castillo de Santa Barbara - that's probably the "easy" bit of the run. There will be much steeper sections :)

Not for me.

If that’s the easy bit I’m out too 🤣🤣

We have walked up to the castle - it's a pirate museum - one for BaddieThePirate. But up the road, which is steep, even though it is winding and down tracks on the other side. Very nice.

Oh yes, an added bonus - that is not a track but picón ( loose volcanic ash). It gets in your boots when you walk on it.

RunaroundSue can Geoff be of service? I’m going off his running club from the results pages and guessing this is where it is

You are quite right. I keep meaning to change my club back to Lanza Road Runners

We run there every February. Not in races but there is a really nice running group in Puerto del Carmen.

Saturday mornings at 9am (my parkun substitute) and Wednesday evenings at 6pm, although it is probably 6.30pm now - they start later in the summer months

Everyone is very friendly, meet at the ice cream kiosk then run (or walk) as far as you want along the prom towards the airport or beyond if you like. Then return to the kiosk for coffee and/or ice cream.

I think some of the runners make a longer circular route but 5k is enough for me in the heat. It will be even hotter at the moment.

Kenneth Gasque walks with them - he started the Iron Man competitions so everyone seems to know him.

Ask on the Facebook pages about races, if anything is happening they will know

This is great and can we keep chatting then meet up on Wednesday 28th, I’ve rested for two weeks now as the heat over here has been terrible, I was upto 21 miles and generally average run is 5 miles but that’s Derbyshire style. New challenge for me to run in this heat and looking forward to it now 😁

Sorry I won't be in Lanzarote until February!

If you join the Lanza Road Runners Facebook group you will be able to chat to them (although I don't mind chatting to you as well!) They are a friendly bunch, all nationalities.

We met a family from Wales last year, then visited them at their parkun in Newport.
