Concerned of failure

I’m going to do W3R3 tonight which I’m quite confident in but I’m really nervous about Wednesdays Run W4R1. It’s a huge jump from what I’ve been doing... please tell me it’s going to be ok. Is it as hard as it looks or is it all in my head?

Each run prepares you for the next one. Don't worry you can do it 😊

I hope so x

Hi, you'll be fine! Just follow the program as it really does work. Take things easy, slow down if you have to but keep going. One last thing: Make sure you keep hydrated as this will certainly help how you feel, particularly if it's warm or humid when you're running.

in reply toDavid_G

Thank you. I will make sure I’m topped up with water 😊

Completely understand, trust that what you have so far will get you through it. You will be fine!

in reply toCracker12

I’ll find out soon enough. Lol. Fingers crossed 🤞

You can't fail! There is no fail! As soon as you get out that door you've won, no matter what happens. You're improving with every run. Just take it slow and enjoy it. 🏃‍♀️👊

I def felt like that every time there was a big step up. But managed to do it. Just keep steady pace and you will amaze yourself and feel amazing afterwards!!! Good luck

in reply toCantersmum

I will keep steady.. especially as it’s almost double the amount of running time x thanks x

Please don't use the F word, it's technically not allow because it's a non-word. If you go out and the run doesn't go to plan, then you put it under your belt, have a rest day and give it another go.

As already mentioned, just take it slow and steady, don't worry about speed or distance, the focus is on completing each run, if you have to use Japanese slow running then so what, lots of people do.

Trust the program, believe in yourself, go slow and you will amaze yourself (everyone on here has amazed themselves somewhere in the 9 weeks).

You’re brilliant. 😊 thanks x

Noted that the ‘F’ word will not be used anymore. Lol

You’ll be fine. I felt this before every single run, the feeling of achievement though is worth it. By doing all the runs so far, you’ll smash it. You’re ready. Believe in yourself.

You’re winning every time you leave your couch.

Happy running 🏃‍♀️

Thank you x

The only failure is not running. Relax, run, don’t fear success!!!

I remember looking ahead to Week 4 and feeling really freaked out, I even suggested to my running buddy that maybe we should just repeat Week 3 for no good reason. Luckily, we decided to press on and you know what, it was fine. It was tough but fine. I was on holiday that week and did all my runs on wet sand on the beach - hadn't realised running on sand is quite hard! If I managed, you will too I'm sure. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes! 🍀

in reply toDebston

Oh don’t worry, you’ll all be sure to know. Ha ha. It’s pure dread right now. Thanks x

Be boring if it was too easy 😂

Just go out and give it a go. What's the worst that can happen? Well, the worst is you won't manage all of it first time, but you'll still manage some if it, so then you can go out and try again.

Alternatively, you might surprise yourself and it will all be fine.

Either way - you won't know unless you get out there and give it a go!

Thank you.. nothing like a bit of tough love.. ha ha! I imagine my mum giving the same sort of speech. Ha ha

You might find it harder but you’ll definitely get there! I did!

I think that the trick is to just focus on today’s challenge. Wednesday is for Wednesday! Good to take a new distance really slowly to build up your confidence. I think you will surprise yourself, in a good way! And if you find that you are not quite ready for that challenge on Wednesday, try again a couple of days later. But really, I think you will be fine👍😊

Each week is scary. You’ll be surprised how far you’ve come in such a short time. Try not to fret and go with the flow. Slow and steady, you’ll be absolutely fine.
