Concerned about week 4!!!!!!: Hi couch25k peeps... - Couch to 5K
Concerned about week 4!!!!!!
Just take it really slowly and you should be fine. The increases seemed daunting to me but the programme does work. If you do struggle you can repeat runs but just stick at it.
Well done for reaching this far! I am right behind you, I start week 4 this weekend, eek! I also couldn’t believe I managed 3 mins, but the programme has conditioned us after doing it for 3 runs so you’ve gained endurance and stamina through that to step up, its exciting isn’t it.
Take the runs as slow as you need, don’t sprint them, be kind to yourself and enjoy them! Then come back here and tell us all about it 😊
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing and a link to a post about mental approach which may be helpful.
Enjoy your journey.
No tricks, you've just got to take it really slow, and then a bit slower. The main thing is convincing your mind that you can do it, because the programme works and has ensured that your body is ready for it. We know you can do it... Good luck.
I’m on w4r3 today, I was a bit worried about the 5 mins too but it was fine, the programme is making us fit 😁 Just take it slow, remember to breathe, I count 3 breaths in before breathing out for 3, and think positively, I can do this mantra! I find I can do extra at the end and ran for 21 mins in total on run 2, felt amazing and so pleased with myself! We can do it 👍🏻
Bet you thought the same about week 2 after week 1 and then week 3 after week 2 didn’t you?! Don’t worry, if you are following the plan you can do this - 1 run at a time. Take it slow, stay hydrated and use your new mantra I AM DOING THIS!
You can do it!
I remember thinking i can never run for 3 or 5 minutes and now i graduate on my next 30 minute run!
Follow the programme, don't run too fast & you'll be fine 👍
Let us all know how you get on 😊
