Woohoo! Wk5 R3 done....ouch

Bizarrely I’ve been looking forward to this one, but I have to admit it was much harder than I expected initially. I had plenty of ‘puff’ but my legs were like lead and I was struggling from the start. Then I almost tripped over a dog!

I only began to get into my stride in the last quarter of the run, and by the time Michael said stop I felt I could have gone further. The last 2 minutes were pure elation...but my stride felt lopsided, as if I was limping, but without any obvious pain. The pain came on the cool down walk when my left knee started to twinge on each step. By the time I was nearly home I was struggling to cross roads as could barely walk on that side.

Anyway, I’ve done some stretches, had a drink and shower, and I can now take it easy. I’ll massage and ice my knee, stick on a support bandage and hope for the best. I had already cut down to two runs a week, so I’ve a nice long recovery period before my 1st run next week.

I’m still buzzing about completing the run though😁😁

Well done on W5R3, most people look at it and think they can't do it but you proved you can do it.

A friend who runs marathons for pleasure can't run in 10k races as he isn't even getting into his stride by then, which is a strange concept but hey, we're all different.

I hope your knee is ok.

Did mine and had a similar experience (though not re strains, etc!) it was about 2/3 of way through before my momentum really kicked in and got me on to auto pilot....as you say, great feeling though once The 20 has been bagged!!
