An embarrassing problem

I'm 72 years old and run on a treadmill at the gym at 7am (the only time I am free to do the run. I would love to run outside but find that half way through my C25k (I'm on week 5 day 2) I badly need the loo. Have to stop and go straight away (and not just to wee either) I can't imagine what would happen if I was half way down the road when this happens. Any advice folks?

It’s a common issue I think! Marathoners take Imodium 🤣 Luckily I’m a regular morning toilet person so I’ve been ok so far. Plan routes by petrol stations, pubs, cafes maybe? Or make sure you go before you run. I think most runners have conversations about this regularly. If on a trail run, take loo roll and find a bush 🤣

Exercise makes everything work better so even if you can try and go if possible before your run or be careful of what your eating the night before . Good luck 😊

This might sound mad - but how about starting on the treadmill, doing your loo trip and then going outside for the rest of the run? That might be a reassuring way forward for now. 😄

Hi Tasha, just retired 😃😃, unfortunately with a pot on my right hand/wrist, (but at least I can still run 😂) - not part of the retirement plan - the pot, not the running!

After six months on the IC I have restarted from scratch and just completed W4. Loving running again and hoping the plantar fasciitis it’s not going to force me to stop again.

Happy, happy holidays- how are you? I get glimpses of you doing wonderful things via the email link. Xx

Awe lucky you retiring! I only finished yesterday. Well done on getting back to it - tough in this weather though. I bought enertor insoles for an IT band issue. Apparently they’re good for PF too. They’ve got excellent reviews.
