Well I've been putting this off since April! I made every excuse including "I cant start this until I stop smoking, drinking etc" soooooo i got married on the 23rd June, stopped smoking and pulled my fu××ing socks up! The first run was ok, my right shin hurt a bit but it was ok! If I can do this anyone can! I have not looked after myself, I have raved my pants off, got smashed, got drunk most weekends for the past 25 years! I feel great! Glad I got that first run done! Looking forward to my little running journey now!! Come oon!!

Welcome. Congratulations for the marriage. You’ve certainly enjoyed your life over the 25 years there... good call to now do this and extend your life expectancy. Great job kicking the smokes into touch too.

Enjoy your journey, and keep posting... you’ve just arrived and you’re already inspiring some looking to start this, wondering if they can do it.

It's such big deal to me to get myself fit! I got a 2 year old energetic boy and I dont want to be an out of breath dad not being able to play football and have fun with my child! I know I've only done one run but I feel great! It's amazing how it changes your overall mental wellbeing! I feel positive and really looking forward to putting as much effort into keeping fit as I did getting hammered! It was my promise when I got married to run 5k by Christmas!

Well done lad, and welcome to something even more addictive than staying up late and all that entails, look forward to seeing your progress. I'm 60 (done my share of playing out on a school night) and have just finished W5 this morning so you CAN do it.
