A suprise 5K....

After working really hard cleaning/tidying/gardening at my house (it really needed it)... and doing a change over prep at our holiday rental - basically 6 x 8h days of 'hard labour... and fitting in a very very slow 'recovery' run, and a walk with a friend during this period... I at last had a day of 'rest'. Phew, did I need it.

So - It was time for a run... I was desparately hoping that I wasn't going to be as slow as my 'recovery' run (10:30/km) ... so off I went:

Dogs running ahead, no agenda, not looking at pace, no specific distance in mind; just listening to an extensive shuffled playlist of extremely different styles of music on my new bone conducting headphones....

So I settled into a comfortable pace, and concentrated on enjoying it... and I DID! It was great... did my 'there' and then returned (slightly up hill) - put in the effort, and just kept going... towards the end I realised I was just off 5k.. only 250m more, so I added a wee bit extra before I finished and got to my goal! What a suprise! This was my third 5K, and such a pleasant and unexpected experience.

No PB, just a gentle 47 mins, with a pace of around 9:22/km.

So happy : )

PB

(I'll aim to improve my record of 41m 17 seconds at the end of the month).

🏅⭐ That's for the gardening and housework marathon, 👏👏 that's for the unexpected 5k, blimey what a week you've had! Personally, I think that learning to enjoy your run is at least as important as improving your time 😊
