Wk 1 run 1 nerves

Iwillgetthroughthis profile image

Hi all. So I downloaded the app a few weeks back and finally trying to get my life sorted. I have set my alarm for an early morning first run tomorrow of the C25K. I'm feeling really optimistic and emotional already that I can't sleep! Wish me luck!

Hope you did your run ok 👌🏽The first is the hardest. Set your three run days and stick to them 👍🏽

Some people do that but it doesn't suit all of us. The only essential is a minimum non-run day between each run day.

Sounds as though you have all the ingredients for success right there.

Hope you managed it. The first run is the hardest in some ways. Early mornings are a good time to go if you can, less people so you can concentrate on what you're doing, not what other people are doing or thinking. Enjoy!

Hope you managed it! I’ve just finished week one and honestly already feel so much more positive about it and less nervous! Cheering you on!

How did you get on? Are you feeling great? Ghastly? Both?!

I’m also on week 1, run 3 to do soon. The hardest thing was getting off the sofa and to stop making excuses. Being more active already feels great and I’m looking forward to pushing myself further. I can see how running becomes habitual!

Hi there

Welcome to the running/jogging/plodding community! Don't worry about that first run - it is just half an hour of your time, and only 8 minutes of that in total will be spent jogging - and that will be split into super-easy sections of 60 seconds each, with walks in between so you can recover each time.

For the runs (really, gentle jogs), go as slowly as you need to go, as long as you are still jogging rather than walking. Some of us (ahem) have found that our "running" speed is actually slower than our walking speed - but that doesn't matter, as long as you get your body used to this new way of moving.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
