What is your 5K time?

So my mum and I ran our first 5K yesterday which was such an incredible feeling. We did it probably in about 40 minutes.

I was just interested to know what time everyone did their first 5K in. I know ours is still quite slow but we will get faster in time.

Any tips on what to do on our consolidation runs to improve on our time?

This is a really good poll to answer your question.

Intervals are good for adding speed. I prefer to get to the end of my run and do a few spurts of faster running right at the end. The speed podcasts are good too. Time is the best for increasing your pace, it naturally gets faster the more you run. Happy running. Rfc x

You’re rockets compared to me! I’m about 50 odd minutes! Longest I’ve run (so far!) 6.2k - took an 1:07! That’s proper 🐌🐌 x

Wow well done you for running that far though! I guess we are still beginners and we will continue to improve :) x

Sorry Dani1201 I mean I run the same pace as DiscoRunner. 5k in 40m is a good speed xx

My first ever 5km was also my slowest at 46 minutes and 59 seconds. That was at my local Parkrun and the next time I ran it in 41.09. My fastest 5km was the first and only race I have done. I finished in just under 39 minutes which I was delighted with. I want to get round my local Parkrun in under 40 minutes, that's my next target 🎯... Congratulations to you and your mum for running 5km, hope you are both feeling very proud! 🎊 🥂 🥉 🏃 🏆

That’s great, very well done. I would be a few mins slower. 😀
