So I've just finished week 1 and thought I should tell my story

So 6 years ago i started a lifestyle change as at the age of 30 i was fluctuating towards 19st and needed to change, i started to do jillian Michael's body revolution which is a 3 month challenge of healthy eating and hitt training, I loved it and got down to 13st after 3 months, I decided to carry on the healthy eating but by judging it myself and all went well, in 2014 I decided to do couch to 5k for the first time and about 2 weeks after I completed it my husband set me to do the great north 5k in Newcastle which I was very apprehensive but I loved it, I completed it in 33 minutes and was amazed. I managed to get down to 12st 3 at my lowest but the last 2 years I have managed to keep up my fitness but struggled with my eating sometimes. In the last 2 year I have very noticeably started to get problems with my back but somehow I still managed to do 10ks, the great south run, and race for life half marathon and a few muddy runs here and there lol.

It wasn't until after I did the great south run last year I started to notice ot was really troubling me and since then my exercise and running has dramatically dropped, on new years eve my back went and I've been having physio on and off since, I have recently found out I have a bulging disc that slips back and forth. But anyway I decided I need to try and get back on it as I seem to be managing my back problem so far with a position change at work and generally taking it easy, but since then I have gone back up to 13st 9.

So here i am back on couch to 5k again and its just as tough as i remember lol, I do realise this is probably the furthest I should run now but I'm gonna give it a go and hopefully get fit and healthy again 😊😊😊 sorry for the essay 😜

Yes indeed Annie, nice photo of you, just keep all your runs slow and steady, good luck. πŸ‘

Just brilliant Annie83! I recommend this to everyone but as you’re post injury, and trying to avoid pain - here’s a low impact style of running designed to avoid injury. It’s the Japanese slow jogging technique and I run this way all the time & love it! m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2...

I get all the benefits of running (5 inches from my waist!) but no pain, and the running this way is very pleasurable - in the moment - and telly good for this hot weather!

Thanks think this is pretty much how I run anyway, if I try to go too fast my back will pull me back anyway ☺

There are a few specifics so it is worth a watch - there’s slow running and then there’s Japanese slow running 🀣🀣!!
