I did the 20 min run on Saturday and felt fine afterwards but Sunday felt rather tired and much to my wife disgust really was below par. Thinking about what I eat makes me feels though I am not getting enough energy from my food. I am a fairly new type 2 and trying to do as the info and talks tell me to eat. I have lost 2.5 stone and the running is part of my regime to get my health back to what it should be. The run today was fine and felt ok afterward what I would like to find out from other people on the forum is what they are consuming taking into account my type 2.
Thanks in anticipation

I have no experience directly in this case, but I do know a marathon runner who fuels his runs with fat rather than the traditional carbs, so that approach may suit a diabetic runner.
Not wanting to tell you stuff you already know, your knowledge of your condition is better than mine... but I found this article specific to running with type 2. runnersworld.com/health-inj...
I did test and level was 5.3 which I believe is normal but you could be correct abt the heat tho at 07:00 it wasn’t as hot. I have an appointment in a weeks time and I have lots of questions that need answering. Many thanks for reply’s Norman.
It may just be that the hot weather took its toll, particularly if you were a bit dehydrated. If you are combining this programme with weight loss and are a new diabetic I would suggest you have a quick chat with your GP. It may be that you need to take the diet more slowly while you are getting fitter but you should be able to do both at the same time. What you don't want to do is go too fast (running or dieting) and have to stop. Good luck!
I started running after being diagnosed type 2. I went on one of the day courses and came away with advice to eat healthily which was pretty much what I was already doing. I run in a morning after a cup of tea then when I get back have Weetabix and a banana. I have found that as I'm running more I'm getting more hungry I use Fitbit too to track what I'm eating which gives me an idea as to what's going on and what I'm using up.
I would suggest asking to see a dietitian or have a chat when your practice nurse for specific advice.
You might find the LCHF forum interesting in terms of diet. Lots of very knowledgeable people on there too My husband is type 1 and we find low carb works well in terms of ironing out spikes and reducing the need for insulin.
