I have just finished week 6 and really enjoying my journey. I suffered terribly with shin splints, so bought my self new trainers with gel inbuilt and use shin splint compression supports;which have been a God send. However when I'm running I feel my ankles feel strained almost like they have minimal strength. Does anyone have any advice?

I suggest getting a foam roller and rolling the front of your shins . It will help ward off shin splints. Check out You Tube for how to use the foam roller. It hurts at the time, but it’s like having your own massage.
It’s worth strengthening everywhere of course, the stronger each joint/muscle the less likely injury becomes. NHS Strength and flex is a good place to start.
