Beware - trying out MAP MY RUN may turn out to be an expensive mistake

Potential users of the running app, MapMyRun, marketed by UnderArmour, MVP,or mapmyfitness.com should be extremely careful about starting to use this app. They offer a two week trial. Simply deleting the app during that trial, and not using it, is not enough. Unless you log into their website and cancel. You will be charged at the maximum rate of £27.99 as if you used all their services for a year. If you purchase it from an Apple device they too will take the full charge and give you no chance of contacting them either. The item is not eligible for a refund request, is the response on their website. Not even eligible for a request! Seems rather a disgusting attitude for Under Armour and Apple to take? BE WARNED, Lose weight easily! let UnderArmour and Apple empty your pockets, with no redress.

From experience, Apple will refund. Go here reportaproblem.apple.com and log in... find the app/subscription in dispute and ask for a refund... they’re very reasonable.

In general for anybody reading... as soon as you start a free trial, go to your subscriptions and cancel it.

“We've determined that your purchase does not meet the conditions for a refund”. Was the reply from the website, within seconds of my request. Not even read by a human I expect.

Thanks for the thought though,UNM.

Then call them, or get them on live chat.

I’ve used Mapmyrun for nearly 3 years now and never paid a penny of it. I only have the basic version but it suits me just fine whether running a short run or doing a half marathon.

Me too.. Never paid a penny or on Strava. Some people seem to think it OK to enter their bank details.. Sign up to the full free app usage and forget to either cancel.. Or not read why card details are for.

I use the free version of Strava and haven’t had any problems.

I did settle for the free version of Strava, having tried a few. Just annoyed to be caught out like that though.

Always vexing when companies rate greed over reputation. Glad you got sorted in the end.

I'm just using the free one too. I have my fitness pal as well, which links up. Thanks for the tip I wont be tempted to try the free trial now.

Thank you for sharing this information. I use an all called ‘Runtastic’ - it’s by Adidas. I used the basic version for 6 months and now I am taking my running seriously I’ve decided to pay for it monthly. The basic version served all my needs and I never had a problem with it in any way, the dashboard and running stats gave me everything, so very happy but not many people know about it.

I use Moves X which is free as well as the app that came with my fitbit. Both map my sessions. The maker of your app don't know that you have deleted the app so unfortunately you have to go to the web site or the app to cancel. I have always found Apple to be fair and always got a refund when necessary. I have no experience of the app you have. Sorry for your troubles though.

I’ve never been charged for MapMyRun?

Sorry to hear you’re having this issue - in brief I purchased a subscription through iTunes and then cancelled within approx 24hrs and have received refund confirmation - I was under the impression that iTunes gave you 14 days to request one?

Maybe UA have some sort of different ‘contract’ with iTunes but I’d try persisting to be honest

Hope you get it sorted bless! 🤗 x
