Gremlins!

Ok I completed C25K. I loved it. I had become a runner. Did 1 week consolidation running. All good. Then got a massive cold that took me out for 3 weeks. Got back on track this week and ran twice. Yay!

But ....today I’ve crashed my toe into a wooden chair and can’t walk never mind run 😳

Ice pack, ibuprofen, toes strapped up, no running for several weeks.

Please tell me I will get back into it.......I feel sad as I already miss my precious fledgling running habit. Any words of encouragement so welcome!

As soon as the pain has gone..buddy it up to the toe next to it and head out. Which toe is it?

Thanks Oldfloss. It’s the little toe of left foot. Yes good idea to first let the pain go.

I've bust that one so many times..last time on France on a sun chair and here on an elephant...(door stop) after a couple of days you should be fine for a jogette..😉

I love the various exotic ways you damaged your toe! 😂 mine was just rushing carelessly to answer the front door. If I ever bash toe again (which I hope I won’t) I’ll aim for something more imaginative 😁. Happy running if you’re out this weekend and stay cool......or as cool as possible

Ha ha.... well the one in France... I was not even having wine... and the Elephant.. I have a doorstop upstairs... and got up in the dark...! Elephant won the confrontation :)

This was my post from France.. it may give you a giggle... while you are resting your toe:)

Of course you will get back to running once your toes are fully healed. Just try a slow short run to see how you go. Good luck 😊

Congratulations on your graduation, and well done for getting back to consolidations. Look after that toe and stay on this forum, you will be even more motivated to come back to it.

Hey JaoJao, nice to get your message. Yes definitely staying in this forum, it’s an absolute motivator and great support. How’s your running? It’s a few weeks since graduation now?

Ooh ouch! Hope it heals quickly Jerichomile - but I suppose it does give you an excuse not to venture out in this heat!

That sympathy feels so nice! Thanks Oldgirlruns. Yep, I’ve got my feet up and am sitting in the garden so I suppose every cloud does have a silver lining 😁. I have a plan that next time I get the chance I will joffle along the seafront in Brighton again. Not there very often but it was great 👍

A joffle along a seafront - what’s not to like! Enjoy!

Well... the good news is you won’t be running tomorrow! I’m with Oldfloss on this... a couple or even handful of days and you’ll be back and it’ll be cooler. Happy healing.

Thanks UnfitNoMore. I’ll take that view “I’ll be back and it’ll be cooler” 👍 by the way love your C25K name! Says it all doesn’t it? We all benefit from C25K in so many ways - fitness and actually wellbeing and mental health too. I’ve been astonished at the effect it’s had for me - and at the depth and sheer quality of this forum community

Ouch! You poor thing, that's such bad luck just when you were pleased to be running again. But these things happen and it won't be long before you are back out there.

You’re right Debston. It’s probably one of those things that will happen from time to time in what I hope will be a nice long running lifetime 😁

Ouchy! Great advice from Oldfloss x whilst you are waiting for the pain to subside you could either do some strength and flex work (plenty of exercises that don't require standing on your poorly toe) 🤔 OR you could sit on a sun lounger with a long, cool G&T 🍸 cheers 🥂 Happy recovery x

JerichomileGraduate in reply toJogunlikely

Ah! I’d totally forgotten I could do some Strength & Flex. Good idea. Meantime this evening I’m profiting from inability to run tomorrow to have a cold glass of something nice. A tiny bit of choc isn’t out of the question either 😁. Don’t have much of a sweet tooth anymore though. Another odd yet excellent unexpected side effect of C25K. I used to be a real sugar fiend. Now, 1 or 2 squares once in a blue moon is more than enough

I wish it had done the same for me. My sweet tooth is my downfall 😬

😁....interesting to see if that changes over time. It might. Meantime, hope you enjoy your weekend whatever it involves
