Getting it wrong is not the end of it all

A few weeks ago I posted as a warning against getting carried away and going off plan. The, almost inevitable, injury occurred and set me back by about 6 weeks (trachantor bursitis and iliotibial band injury).

I got the help of a good physio, did the excercises and kept walking. I got back to running 3 weeks ago and just completed W9 R3 today.

Better to not get injured but I was so happy it was not the end of my running efforts. I dipped out at W8 R3 and went back to week 4 on my recovery but was amazed that I found that easy so I soon got through to Week 8 again. I was astonished that I had not lost as much of my running fitness as I thought I would.

So happy and this group really helped me to dig in and get on with it. Thank you to all contributors for sharing.

It is good to see that you didnt immediately start where you left and recovered the lost time sooner. This is what every new runnee should understand: do not get too excited and do not get too disheartened. You set a good example. Congrats on completing the program.

Congratulations on your graduation, and yes how lucky are you to have picked up where you left off. Getting carried away is easily done, especially with in the first few weeks, that’s where this forum and all the valuable resources come in and ensure we are on the straight and narrow.

Thanks for posting this

Would you mind if I added this post to my gruesome collection of horror stories from those who admitted to going their own way, only to regret it?

Glad you are back out there.
