Best Running Music
ABBA... Yeyayayayay.... great for steady paced runs...
Well done you...have you checked out the Newbie post.... essential reading! Be sure to find your own pace too, if running with friends
Hi I love running with music, but I’ve started recently running with podcasts, the love Island morning after definitely takes my mind off the running!! 😂🏃♀️❤️🌴
I love extreme metal and punk... but recently I’ve been running to Madness... I run my long runs to Complete Madness and have found it really good as there’s very little tempo change on that album.
There’s also a site jog.fm that allows you to find music you like at the right tempo... then you can add that to a playlist in your favourite player. This is good if you know your cadence (strides per minute)
You'll either love this or absolutely hate it. Steve Reich - Music for 18 musicians. It's kind of classical/jazz crossover, purely instrumental. But the key is that it is an absolutely steady pulse all the way through and lasts for about an hour. Every five minutes or so the background music changes, but the pulse never varies. While I don't keep time with the pace of the music, it does kind of motivate you to keep going.
Another ploy is to use a podcast or audiobook. This morning's run I was listening to Wuthering Heights, narrated brilliantly with all the Yorkshire accents by Patricia Routledge. As you are engrossed in the story you can forget that you're running. (Though maybe not so good for keeping a steady pace).
On other days I've used Bon Jovi, or Metallica. But you must choose a playlist that doesn't have slow songs in it!
Also Wagner can work well (more by energy than rhythm).
In truth, I guess everyone's tastes are personal, and the important thing is to experiment and find something that works for you.
Good luck, and enjoy C25K!
Whatever you would normally listen at home - is your best running music. It's like asking us to help you dress up. Forget about what we say, listen to what you like only.
Depending on your tastes in music, or age, Jancanrun's playlists are very good, they are on Spotify or Itunes. mainly oldies requested by runners, birthday No. 1's and retro runners, first single bought. not all the tunes are beat, beat, to the music, there is one track sung by Mario Lanzo and another by Metallica, big variation in runners kind of music.
I’m currently listening to Marathon Motivation by Spotify on my runs.
I’ve been using the pop warmup 130BPM by Spotify as it helps me go slow or the couch to 5 k running by jonesgrlz.
70's 80's & 90's pop & the Who are my weapons of choice!
