I am doing my first run tomorrow lunch time organised by my work. I have no idea how I am going to be.
If it helps my mental health that's an unexpected benefit.

Running has a multitude of benefits , better mental health is definitely one of them . Good luck for tomorrow😊😊
Good luck for tomorrow. Please post to let us know how you get on x
There are many upsides to running, a couple of downsides too that I'll cover at the end to present a balanced argument.
Mental health - I personally suffer from not being able to clear my mind, running does this and has been linked to reducing depression, etc, it also, quite unbelievable but it seems to be true, improves your ability to cope under stress.
Fitness - this is definitely true, as you progress through the weeks you will realise the changes to your body and not only the ones on the outside too. If you are thinking of using this to lose weight, be warned, you may actually put a bit of weight on to start with but you should lose weight too after a while. Measure yourself prior to starting, this will give you a better idea on how your body is changing. On the inside, you'll find you have more stamina and fitness, running upstairs no longer leaves you gasping for air.
Downside 1 - it can get very addictive, even if you hated sports, etc, at school, you start looking forward to your next run and you then start planning more and more things with running.
Downside 2 - There is a plethora of running kit, shoes, clothes, etc, and the more you run, the more you will look at them.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons.
How are you going to be? Well, at the beginning you’re going to regret ever agreeing to start! But you know what, plough on to the end and you are going to feel brilliant! I burst into tears at the end of my first run, I felt so proud of myself - and you will too! Take it slow, if it means you’re slower than others, don’t try and keep up; just do your own pace. Get out there and enjoy it! Well done on starting and let us know how you get on!
Enjoy your first run, you’ll feel amazing after it even if you’re red faced and panting like a dog, lol
