A little help please?

Morning! I should have done run 2 of week 3 yesterday but the tip of each leg, almost the groin was really sore, even when walking. Can still feel it now, when I next run, I will do stretches, because I had not before. Does anyone else suffer this and will it go away?

Do you mean where your leg bones attach to your body? Yes I do but not from running, it’s part of my joint problems. I’m guessing stretching will help as there are loads of muscles and tendons criss crossing in this area. Hope it settles down quickly.

PS my ‘joint’ probs are caused by inflammation where tendons join to bones. As you get fitter I’m guessing you won’t get this any more (like my thigh muscles that used to really complain but stopped pretty quickly once they got used to running regularly).

Yes, I think, haha. Thank you. Right at the top where your leg joins your body but the 'pain; runs horizontally? Just done a Ministry of funny walks walk to see haha. It does settle but as soon as I start to speed up it snurps up again. I just don't want to do myself more damage than good so thought I would ask.

I hope your problem is fixable

I've got good medication and my life back, so I'm very happy 😀

You may find the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts helpful - good for rest days, free, and a great way to pick up individual exercises that you can use before and after runs. Hope things improve soon x

Hi I had exactly the same thing when starting week 2 - I found dong some of the 5 minute

Stretching activities I found You Tube before and after running completely solved my aches and pains.

Thank you. I did find some stretches online, I think its my illopsoas muscles that are hurting. So took anti inflammatories last night and have got up with next to no pain. So I think I will combine stretches and tabs for a little while and see how it goes. Xx

Do check this out and do read the How to run C25K first.

Stretching post run is essential and some strength and flex work too.... as ButtercupKid suggests. Non impact exercises on some of your rest day are very helpful too. We do expect aches and pains at the start of the programme, so these should ease as you move on and up your rest day exercises too :)

Well done you!

Thank you! Yes I had certainly anticipated feeling something but felt pain where I hadn't expected to haha. Shall make sure to stretch properly and probably take 2 days rest instead of 1 for a little while as I REALLY don't want to stop running cos I love it!
