Advice please - Before work running.

Does anyone run before work? ie: first thing like early 5.30 - 6am. I don’t normally work on a Monday but I am tomorrow. This is usually one of my running days (which I try of fit in around work)

So it would mean either going early or after work in the evening. I run better in the morning but not been that early 😳 I am a morning person by nature but I know I will be worried about having enough time etc before I get to

Work.

At this time of the year it is daylight, also, it's the best time to run early in the morning to avoid the heat of later in the day, I would advise you to run before work.

Yes I think you’re right. I have very little energy at the end of the days I work. Thanks AlMorrz

Yeah, I prefer early mornings so it means I have to go out before work. It means a pretty early start as I end up with a beetroot face after any form of exercise and have to give myself enough recovery time so that my face is normal before I appear at work! It’s been fine, though, and I do think I’m usually in a better mood on the days I’ve run so I must be doing something right!

I guess you should just give it a go and see. If it’s too rushed then you’ll know to try to avoid it or have to get up 10 minutes earlier😉

Good luck!

Ooooo I forgot about the beetroot face, I also suffer with that 😬 I work as a Practice Nurse, can’t turn up at work like that as the docs might think I need treating 😂😂

Try and work out that the runs will be completed at least 30 minute's before you start work as a Practice Nurse, the red beetroot face will have returned to normal.

I did week 6, run 3 before which meant being up and out by 5.20 I loved being out before everyone else and took the chance to run on the pavement, rather than 'hiding' on the cycle path. Also, I felt great for the rest of the day. If you can do the early start, I'd say go for it!

I did my first run this morning and went out early. Nice and quiet!

That is pretty much my normal running time:).

I have once or twice gone before work, which allowing for showering meant setting out at 05.00, but it was okay, and that was ahead of a 12 hour shift with a 40 minute commute either way.

It is doable, for me, preferable to after work, which I doubt I would do 🤗

Early runs are good and it is a great time of the year for it...:)

I used to run/walk at 5.30 when I worked.. get everything organised the night before.. running gear and your work gear etc.. and it is a great start to the day!

I’m also an early morning runner. Up at 5:45 and out about 6. No food, maybe a sip of water. Shower and breakfast afterwards lets my face return to normal colour, but there have been occasions when it’s been so hot my hair won’t dry after the shower - the hairdryer makes me sweat even more!

I tried running after work, but I was always too tired.

Thank you - that’s my problem too, I’ll have to give up work....it’s getting in the way of my running 😂😂😂

😂😂😂

A lovely run early in the morning will really set you up for the day. My friend has run early for years and sets out between 5:30-6am, even in the winter. She lays everything out the night before so she’s ready to go. She has been known to sleep in her run gear, but I’ve told her that’s a step too far!! 😜 😝

I must admit I’ve never slept in my gear. But I do lay it out the night before.

I only run first thing in the morning and on those three days I then feel better all day.

I’ve done a couple of early runs, was lovely, enjoyed them much more than going out later, sets you up for the day. I tend to run around 9am after I’ve dropped my son at school, keep bumping into people I know then though, much rather be out at 6am! Hope you’re first run after graduation goes well 👍🏻
