Spectacular fail 😢

Failed, although I know someone will say I shouldn't use that word, on Wk8r2 just. I don't know why but was just awful this morning. My legs felt so heavy and were screaming at me at 18 mins I just had to stop. I gave up and walked home. I really don't get it. How can I have come so far and this happens. All the other times I've found it hard I've persevered. I think it's been the mental battle most with me. I know that I'll get back on it but just feeling deflated and tbh, sorry for myself!

The only reason we say it's not a failure is because it's not. Yes you didn't manage to run 28 mins, but you did manage to run 18, a month or so ago you couldn't have done that.

Today's run improved your aerobic fitness, improved your stamina, improved your circulation and made your legs fitter and stronger. That's some failure ; )

I know it's demoralising to not reach your target, but you've done it before, you know you can do it again.

Make sure you are hydrated (every day not just run days) and next time you'll nail it.

Bad runs happen, but you can do it.

That sounds tough but keep going and you’ll get there. I remember my first 20 minutes, thinking ‘no way!’ But your body is totally set. I just really focused on how good I would feel when I got to the end. I’ve definitely had bad days (including my first park run last week 😐) but you’ve got this far and you can do it!

It happens... we say don;t use the f word.. because fail is such a strong word.

You did not complete... it could be for many reasons...weather, poor hydration, insufficient sleep, a little bug that is bringing you down.

You have done amazing and look how far you have come.. focus on that.. rest up.. get some strength and stamina work in ( that should have been upped, as these runs get longer ) and then head out again.

I do empathise.. we do get low, but... the runs will be there.. you will head out slow and steady and relaxed... You will do it:)

We all have runs that we feel have been a fail. Positive side is that you ran 18mins and then walked home. All good for fitness, so try not to feel bad about it 😊

Happened to me on run 1 of week 7 and it's an awful feeling. Try as i might i just couldn't go on and like to say, i think it was more head than legs (although my legs might have disagreed!)

Thanks to the lovely people on here I managed to feel better about myself, i took a dull two days off and drunk so much water. When I repeated the run it was amazing!

It is so hard not to feel down hearted about it but go easy on yourself. You still ran for 18 minutes today! Could you do that 8 weeks ago?! Enjoy the sunshine, rest the legs and try again in a couple of days 😊

Echoing the words of others. No failure at all - just a shorter run than you planned. I’ve had a few runs like that and then been able to do next run with oodles of energy left. So keep hydrated, get some good sleep and update your playlist for the next run. Keep going only 4 more runs till you graduate 😀👍

Hardly mate!! I’ve just been through some of your posts and they’re amazing - look how far you’ve come (as a newbie I’m dreaming of that yet having just done W1 and finding that a challenge!)....so it’s not been perfect today, so what life’s like that, crack on you’ve achieved loads!

It's ok now and again we have a run that doesn't go to plan and feels rubbish. Have a rest day drink plenty water and try again . You can do it 😊

C25K is a plan. It is not the law.

Having a shorter run doesn't matter. Stopping for bit doesn't either. Try and plan a strategy for harder runs. Everyone has them. Rather than slog on until you just have to stop try slowing down a bit earlier. Other options are to take a 20 second brisk walk break then start off again a bit slower.

That did make me laugh and get things in perspective 'its not the law'. Yes you're right! Thanks

Percyp73, write it off as one of those days, dont beat yourself up about it, you had a go so take credit for attempting it, see it as a rehearsal🤔👍 if its any consolation, I tried a 30mins consolidation run at teatime (usually run early morning but had grandchildren today) and had to stop half way due to heat😳 will try again another day but go back to early when its cooler 😊 good luck with your next run

Thanks, going to run early tomorrow morning. Yes I think it's been too hot to run today x
