Well I was up bright and early this morning and down to Poole parkrun for my first bit of serious tourism... and... cancelled! Race for Life or some such (darned runners!).
I wasn't the only one to turn up and run the route anyway... and apparently someone had driven from Leicester especially!
Anyhow, 3 laps of the boating lake brought me in at just about 6k, which was good enough for me.

I always follow the appropriate Facebook page the week before a planned tourist parkrun, in case of any announcements as it might be possible to find a nearby alternative.
That’s a shame. Make sure to check the event website for cancellations - also worth taking a look at the volunteer roster as if it’s all blank it is a clue that it is cancelled that week also.
Oh Pianism , I am so so sorry. I think we saw something about a race for life and muddy run when down there last week but didn’t take note of the date . I do hope you liked running around the park though and got to see the lovely cygnets and goslings by running at a slower pace. I missed them on parkrun but saw them the next day.
That’s a reminder for us all to check before tourism. Southsea is cancelled in 2 weeks time, just in case anyone is coming this way.
Thank you - no apology necessary. I would probably have done exactly the same had I known as I was in Poole anyway and had no car at my disposal. The park was lovely and perfect running conditions.
