And I didn’t stop! I’m now on the post-run high. 😃😃😃
It all started off well and the first 5 minutes disappeared in a flash. The next part was a bit more of a struggle (toxic 10 effects, I guess) but as I was desperately telling myself to stop thinking about how long I had to go, good old Michael piped up to tell me I was half-way. What???? How did that happen?
That seemed to put a spring in my step and my head was now full of the fact I’d reached half-way so next thing Michael’s back in my ear telling me there’s 5 minutes to go!
At that point I would have quite liked to be finished, but then Jon Bon Jovi came to the rescue with ‘Keep The Faith’ and that got me through the last push. Even managed to take Michael’s suggestion at a speed finish for the last minute, then was delighted at him telling me I could now call myself a runner. 🏃♀️
Is it just me, or does anyone else find themselves talking back to their virtual coach? Out loud, in the street for heavens sake! What’s happening to me?
I can’t believe I’ve spent so much of my life not knowing how fantastic this running malarkey makes you feel, though. Can’t wait for Monday for my next run.

I love it after that halfway point, as soon as I start flagging I just tell myself I’m closer to the finish than the start so there’s no point giving up now, that has seen me through some really tough runs so I haven’t had any that I couldn’t complete yet.
Oh, that’s good advice, thanks. I think I’ll do that on the next one.
It’s kind of hard not to obsess with times and how long is left rather than just getting on with it. You can’t wait to get to the end then when you do, it feels great and you start looking forward to doing it all over again!!
Haha, that's me sometimes, I stop myself from giving up in the toxic 10 cos it gets better after that, then after 5 mins I'm half way, so then I'm over half way and can't give up with only 10 mins to go. I have talked myself through quite a few runs like that : )
