I'm off work for a fortnight and so wanted to complete a couple of running goals with my time. Today was the first (and most significant) of those.
Now 5.5 months ago I was getting towards 17.5 stone and struggling to walk up a flight of stairs.
Today I ran my first 10k... and it felt goooood!
I'll do a fuller race report over on B210k but I wanted to post this here for all those who are starting out, filled with doubt (and perhaps fear).
I'm just an average man, on the old side of young (or the young side of old I guess), with no history of sport or exercise of any description. All I did was run the programme whilst fitting in as much walking as my schedule would allow and moderating my diet just a bit.
And just look at me!!! I look "normal". I'm not the fat one any more.
I know everyone says this, but if I can, anyone can!
Good luck to you all, wherever you are in your running life.

Yeah! 🎉 10km nailed ✅ congratulations!! You look amazing in the photo, just regular build and happy! Although i am surprised by the lack of swimming hat considering the location...
I think you should re-read some of your first posts if you ever need more validation of your amazingness
As if hahaha. Yes I’ve wondered about a blog as well but you know... yes no need to worry about those stones, they’ll just go if you keep running and exercising. Again, well done!
I did a blog after I realised I didn't have an easy way to read my own story. I just used Blogger to create it, then opened my Posts page on a new screen and copied my posts across one at a time, changing the date to get them in chronological order. I can show you on Thursday.
It took a while at first but now I copy across straight away.
What a great place to run your first 10k! Outstanding stuff Pianism, you're looking awesome my man, although I'm slightly disappointed you're not modelling your sweatband! We need to bring that bad boy back! 😂
Thank you. Yes, it's actually really amazing indeed. You start off with lungs on fire even running for a minute and then suddenly you can run 10k without really getting out of breath. The human body is incredible if you'll just let it.
Me too. When RunaroundSue suggested it to me, my immediate thought was "no way, now how". But I couldn't think of a single excuse not to and here I am.
I am genuinely the least likely person on the planet to be doing this. You absolutely can and will achieve your goals if you want them and have an achievable plan to get there.
