I wanted to let you know that today, I voluntarily got out of bed at 5.10am, donned running gear and ran for 25 minutes - without stopping. I have completed week six of the couch to 5k programme and am now ready to grab weeks 7,8 and 9 by the scruff of the neck π
I know you never thought I would be capable of achieving anything like this - which only helped convince me of the same - thatβs why today feels especially good.
Happy running!
You know who π
PS. According to Laura, I am now officially a runner π

Well done you!!!! This made me laugh, I was out running the same time as you this morning, and I thought about my old PE teacher who once made us run a hurdle race a second time as I won the first one "and that just wasn't possible" according to her! It always stuck with me! This morning I ran W8R3, so up yours Mrs Norton!! π
After a school prize giving, at which I won awards for history, English and languages, my PE teacher came to me and said, β I am so glad to see you are good at something!β Harrumphs loudly! Am loving proving her wrong all these years later! Happy running π
This is brilliant and sums up so many peopleβs experience of PE at school. I swear gym teachers were evil and there must have been something in their training in how to crush young peopleβs attitudes to exercise and sport. I do hope itβs not like that in schools these days.
Our cross country runs were particularly scarring as we had to finish by running past the technical block which just so happened to have lots of windows out of which most boys would hang, shouting and jeering.... not much wonder it has taken me until my 50s to even attempt running again! Happy running π
