Defeated by rain!

Got up early and I’m eager for w2 r2 but I just can’t do it in this torrential downpour! I don’t want to feel like I’m making excuses but it’s apocalyptic out there. It’s bloody summer but maybe I need to invest in a running rain jacket?

It’s not excuses, it’s how you feel. I would say though that when I was out in it yesterday it felt good. I was on a mission (W4R1) and apart from needing wipers on my glasses I didn’t really register it. I wasn’t cold, cos I generate plenty of heat!!! It was just me and Jo doing the business. I don’t have a jacket at the moment but I layered and it was fine. I guess I was worried I’d get blown off my routine because now spacing runs regularly has really helped my progress. Sounds like you’re committed to this so don’t feel defeated by one day.

Yep this is what I was worried about, i don’t want to get out of the routine and end up quitting. Must go tomorrow!

Nah! Get out there! Running in the rain is nice 🤣

If you really don’t want to though, postpone.

If you find a good rain running jacket let me know : ) It was pretty wet when I walked the dogs this morning lol

I agree, it is tricky.. it is quite different if you are out and it rains... I go out, but not if it is torrential...loads of cheap lightweight breathable out there.. i have two Ron Hill...both got at sale rice. They are light enough to carry too..in my w/coat.

The rain will stop... the run will wait!

I got up yesterday ready to try our local park again as the pollen was low but opened the door to find torrential rain. I don't mind running in a bit of rain but this was definitely flood worthy rain! Changed trainers and went on the treadmill instead, not the same but definitely drier, still raining at 9 last night when I picked up son from work experience...if it carries on we'll all have to take up rowing 😂

Thanks all. I didn’t go in the end and did yoga instead which I usually do on my rest days. I only have one chance to go running at the crack of dawn before the children get up so won’t be able to make up for it later! Going tomorrow whatever the weather!

Looked out the window to see loads of animals lining up in pairs, so went to the gym and ran on a tread mill instead, actually a bit easier as the speed is set for you and you see how many calories you’ve burnt.
