Week 6, Run 3 Wall

Just got back from not doing Week 6, run 3. Messed up my iPod so it went back to the start of the podcast when I'd already done the warm up walk so I set the timer on my phone instead. Really struggled. Managed 10 minutes, walked for a minute or two then ran for 13. Could I count this as a repeat of w6r2? Trying not to feel like I've failed but I do feel I have a block with the idea of not having a little rest between runs. Any advice for getting over this?

I would say that was a repeat of run two of week six.

Have at least a day off, drink plenty of water, run that run a little slower than you did today, once you have completed it you will be officially a runner 🏃.

Thank you. According to the iPod, I averaged 6mins 20s per km which included the little walk I did. Not super speedy but I think I should slow down. And I definitely need to drink more water. Oh well, Thursday is another day!

Hi there! I found learning to run slowly was the thing that turned my running around. About at your stage someone posted this - m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2... And it changed everything. You get all the benefits of running but with added pleasure! You can do this slow jogging technique as slowly as you need to, over time you naturally increase slightly but stay at a conversational pace. I find I can just happily plod along like this, and didn’t miss the walking breaks. I’ve even learned to run up hills!! Definitely take this as a repeat, you are not a failure - just take the next few nice & slow! And good luck!

Thank you. This looks really interesting - I'll give it a go on Thursday.

Rest up and take it slow and steady... the longer runs are perfect for relaxed running...

Didn't feel relaxed at all today! Even the warm down walk felt like hard work!!

Just chill.. let the legs take you.. don't push at all..this is where they begin to find their happy pace... let them:

'Just chill' sounds like great advice. I run on a cycle path and I think the mud, puddles and fear of slipping made me tense up, too. But now I'm making excuses!
