Week one done! Absolutely petrified to start week 2! Have fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthropathy (doctor permitting c25k) so have to take things slowly ... does it get easier?
Does it get easier? : Week one done! Absolutely... - Couch to 5K
Does it get easier?
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact, stretching after every run and lots more which will all help.
If you find it tough......... slow down.
Enjoy your journey.
Hiya! I have fibro too and I'm just finishing week 3. I'm still finding it hard, but enjoyable! I had a bit of a flare up so I took a few rest days but picked up where I left off and I've had more energy. Just take it at your own pace and if you need to repeat weeks then do that There's no rush to finish it.
Each new week adds extra challenge, so as your fitness and stamina increase, so too does your workout. So don't feel bad if it doesn't feel easier, you'll be working harder and doing more and your body will be ready for each new week. Stick with the programme and you will amaze yourself with how much you can do in 9 weeks! I always say that getting started is the hardest part of the whole C25K and you have done that already!
If you need an extra rest day, take it. If you need to slow down, slow down. If you need to repeat a run, repeat it. And do what Ian says, he knows! Well done on getting started, hopefully it will feel easier as your body gets stronger.
Yes! I couldn’t do all of week one. But I completed all the subsequent weeks😊🏃🏻♀️
Don't be scared 😊 there are two things that can potentially trip you up. The first is speed. Do not be afraid to go slow, slow, slow. 🐌🐢
The second is the gremlins. 😈 you know the little voice that says I can't do it, it's too hard. Well gremlins are liars. And as you are doing this with fibro I know you are mentally tough enough to tell them to go forth!
Just remember your body will be going through a lot of changes now you are running. So it's really important to listen to your body (not the gremlins) Take extra rest days if needed. Repeat any runs you don't complete successfully.
Above all enjoy yourself
For me it didn't get easier so to speak, in that the energy required is more each week but you are getting fitter at the same time, so personally my perceived effort stayed around the same. Which is amazing that more or less it took me the same perceived effort to run 30 mins non stop as it did to do week 1. But if I were to do w1 now at the same pace I did it then it would be so much easier. Does that make sense ?
Everyone is different though, just go at your own pace, don't feed the gremlins or listen to them and take it slow.
Good luck
