New to this forum, and fairly new to the whole running thing. Just started my couch to 5k a week ago and just finished my first run on week 2 this evening. Before embarking on this journey I absolutely hated running, with a capital H. But finding the app really nice and easy to get my head around. Just some encouraging words that it gets easier is all I need really.
Thanks,
Sophie

Hello, c25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here. Just go slow make sure you you drink plenty water 7 days a week. Keep posting about your runs , it's good to log them on here then you can look back and see how your progressing. Good luck , you can do this 😊
Running is life changing. As others have said it's important to follow guidance like good hydration, dynamic movements before a run, stretching after, run slow to start with, vary routes and simply enjoy!
Most people have a moment towards the end of the programme when they look back to these early weeks and remember that they felt the runs were so hard. Keep going. Keep holding the faith that you’ll get to the stage of looking back and thinking: why did I ever think a 90 second run was so hard? Believe me, believe in yourself: that will be you in a few short weeks! Good luck.
Easier? Well it won't always feel easy but you'll continue to feel great after each one. You'll get a great sense of achievement as you move through the weeks.
The programme works, and if you trust it and follow it you'll find it will teach you more than just how to run. It will give your self-confidence a big boost.
As said above, it didn't really get easier, but you get better, you will run longer or faster, it will still be hard, but you won't believe how far you will get
It's gets easier because you get better at running. You get fitter and your legs will start to find their own rhythm. Remember to keep hydrated and do stretches. Also as you progress will help to do something on a couple of non running days to work your muscles such as pilates. Oh and enjoy x
I found that it gets so much easier the more you do it, and you really surprise yourself with how much you can do! Plus I have really started to enjoy it the longer I’ve been doing t for 😃
As you work through the programme the weeks you found hard will seem really easy. But it is a graduated course so each week is supposed to be a little more than the last. But each week you will feel stronger, more confident in your running and more proud of yourself. Hang on in there, it's worth it.
Congratulations at getting out there. Amazing how people on this wonderful forum say they used to hate running but become addicted to the joy of it thanks to this programme. It does become easier because, as everyone has said you get better at it. And you get better at it every time you do another run. You’re doing something that will improve your life in many ways and you’re going to be great. Keep us posted about how you’re getting on. 😊😊🏃♀️
Each week you are doing more, so although you get better you are still challenging yourself. As others say the sense of achievement makes the effort worth it.
Well done for starting! 👏🏻 I found the sense of achievement as your runs lengthen just makes it so exciting that you start to focus on that more than anything. And the support you get on here is just fabulous! Enjoy it!
Welcome. Very well done... it’s hard but you’re doing it! Run 1 of this plan was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
Running itself will get easier (from nearly calling an ambulance in that first run, I can now run for 90 minutes) but if course as you progress the running gets longer, so the plan will stay challenging. You’re up for a challenge though right? After graduation you get to stop the progression and run the same run until it’s comfortable... and when you get there, look back at this first post of yours and consider how awesome you really are.
Don’t be afraid to slow it right down... there’s no prizes for running fast, and slow running has many benefits over speed.
Do you want truth or encouragement? I'll start with the latter. You will complete C25K if that is your goal. I hate the rubbish "If I can do it, anybody can" but I completed it as a completely non-athletic 67 year old with a bucket list target. Will you enjoy it? I didn't, you might. Does it get easier? For many who post here as graduates it does appear to. I found week 1 really easy, and week 2 only a minor challenge. The latter weeks became increasingly awful. Perhaps I should have quit then, but there was the myth of "consolidation runs becoming comfortable". They didn't. I hope you have a brilliant C25K "journey" and become a runner. I didn't.
