Does it get easier!

I’m 53 and just started week 2. Can’t believe how difficult it was to run for just 60 seconds but hoping it will get easier? Shows I really need to do this :-)

Yes it does! Although you feel it’s always difficult at first because you’re always doing more than before. In a couple of weeks, week 2 runs will seem easy. In a year, 5k will be easy.

Thanks - that makes sense and definitely gives me lots of encouragement. Looking forward to my next run!

Hello Hen567! It definitely gets easier, have patience and go really slowly. You’ll look back and be proud of yourself. 😀👍🏃‍♀️

Thanks Frenc great advice. Just goes to show how badly I need to do this! Didn’t think I was sooooo unfit. Will keep on running - slowly! Hope your journey is going well.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

When you can run for 30 minutes in a few weeks time, the early weeks will seem very easy.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Stick with it. It does get easier. Each run you complete prepares you for the next. Sounds strange but it does work!

Does it get easier ?Well, it evolves ! And so do you !

So of course as you get fitter you will be running longer .

Just believe in the program , if you complete a run you will be physically capable of doing the next run !

At times it can be more mental training as physical so believe in yourself as well 👍

Yes, as you get stronger, it will feel easier. However the improvements will be gradual and you will probably not notice them happening at the time. And then one day you reflect on something you've just done and realise how far you've improved.

Were you 'running' like this?

50 here and that was how I felt. But it definitely gets better. I do feel I'm always just at the cusp with each run. Slow and steady with good warmup stretches and cool down makes all the difference.
