Well I finally completed week 9 run 3 this morning, so am very pleased with myself. It took longer than 9 weeks, I started in February and had to go back to week 6 and 7 a few times, because of Easter, visitors, bad weather, losing momentum and that sort of thing. I definitely found week 6 onwards a lot harder. I'm not very fast at all, in fact when running this morning, a young woman walking her dog overtook me and I never caught up with her. I haven't run 5km yet and I ache a lot afterwards, my knees are really starting to feel it. I'm wondering if I'm not cut out for running longer distances, perhaps I should take to the earlier part of the programme and do a combination of walking and running, maybe 15 minutes of each. Has anyone else found this to be better for their joints and fitness routine?

Hi,firstly well done. Congrats !
If you want to carry on running I am sure that there are solutions for your knees.
Congratulations on completing c25k you must be so pleased well done as for your knees try some knee supports see if it helps ππππππ
Well done. I was the same, do not worry about the distance. Do some strength and flex exercises or maybe some yoga, I do Yoga with Adrienne on the internet, it is good and she has become an bit of a phenomenon.
Your knees will gradually recover stronger in the meantime it may be an idea to do 2 shorter runs and a full length once a week type of thing. I was similar but now I have just done 10k however I will train at 5/6/7 for a bit to consolidate.
Am not one for remedies and stuff as I have a good diet but I think Crondotin and Glucosamine helped me.
FYI I am a chubby 55yo and am trying to get about 17lbs off to ease the running!
Many congratulations on your graduation fellow runner.

Keep running, keep smiling.
Congratulations - really well done.
I have a bit of trouble with my right knee but I walk everywhere at the moment as I am trying to lose weight and I have found that this has really strengthened my knees!
Thank you so much, I think walking isn't so hard on your knees, but running has a bigger impact on them - going downhill or downstairs afterwards ouch, ouch, ouch!
