Life as a C25K graduate

Hi everyone, some of our graduate friends have been posting about their experiences so I thought I’d do the same.😊

I started C25K in April 2018 and graduated in June 2018 along with many of our running buddies.🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ After that I took up Parkrun and I’ve been doing it regularly, as well as volunteering when I can. I consolidated for a couple of weeks then moved on to Bridge to 10K, graduating a week before my 55th birthday in August.👏👏

After that I started doing other events, including an 8K cross country run and a number of 10K runs. My longest run was the Croydon Half Marathon a couple of months ago.🏃‍♂️🏅

I wouldn’t pretend it was easy, some runs were tougher than others but the support I got on here helped get me through everything😍 I found running particularly helpful when my dad sadly passed away last year. It helped me by giving me time to think things through and giving me space to consider how my life was going🙂

Upcoming events are Regent’s Park 10K in August and Bournemouth Half Marathon in October🤞

The best thing about running (for me at least) is the friendship, support and camaraderie from other runners. We’re all running for our own reasons and at our own pace. No-one worries about what you’re doing, why you’re doing it or how long you run or how long it takes🙂 Just get out there and do it! Oh, and keep posting on here when you need advice and help😊

Happy running everyone🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️👍

Great post, it's things like this I really need to read. Graduated last weekend, did a 5k run in the week and had to call time at 2k yesterday due to my leg being really sore.

It's great to read everything you've achieved since finishing the program well done 😊

Lovely post David...you certainly are a long way from the couch now!

I agree, running is so good for giving us headspace and improving our wellbeing.

Good luck with your upcoming events!😊xx

Couch to half marathon, very impressive. These posts are helping me believe I can get to 10k. Thank you for coming and telling your story.

Hi, yes you can get to 10K, and further if you want to. Just take your time, listen to your body and stay hydrated. That’s the most important thing, particularly as the warmer weather gets here🌞😎

Don’t be afraid to post on here if you have problems or get stuck, there are plenty of fellow runners🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ who will have had the same issues and will be able to advise you.😀

Good luck!

It is great having an almost family-like feeling. Others runners often chat to me when out and about and its great to feel part of a community both online and out there that "gets" it 👍😁
