Disappointed 😩

Haven’t missed a run or not completed one until yesterday - week 7 run 2 and it all went to pot - managed 15 min but didn’t have another 10 mins in me - if I slow down I lose my rhythm completely - has this happened anyone else?

On the verge of giving up as I’m so disappointed in myself 😢

Well done on your progress.

Look how far you have come.

Do you ever have "off" days in other aspects of your life?

Running is probably even more likely to throw up "off " days, because it is relying on physical performance.

The top three variables in my list, that can impact your performance, are restedness, hydration and nutrition........if they are not right, nor is your run likely to be, so adapt your expectations or have another rest day.

Next run will be fine.

Just take it nice and steady.

I did exactly the same on w6r3. Between it being 'that time', having a chest infection and sore muscles from trying a local rounders club I just couldn't get anywhere near. But a bit of rest and at attempt number 3 past night I did it and felt good. Definitely such a thing as food and bad runs. Go easy on yourself, rest and then keep going. You've not come this far just to come this far x

Don't give up at your first disappointing run - that's too easy !! I'm sure the next run you have will be a good one and then you'll be pleased you kept going. Take IannodaTruffe's advice and you'll be fine.

DON'T GIVE UP! You had a bad run, but you still run and you managed 15', which is more than you did 4 weeks ago and it counts to making you a better runner. Unfortunately bad runs happen sometimes for the reasons that Ian mentions or sometimes just because.

It's important to listen to your body during each run, sometimes you just need to go slower. Might not be every run but just that one or even just part of that one. Every run is different. Have a listen to some of the short runs on NRC app.

It really throws you when you get a bad run but accept it, rest and set off for the next run which more than likely will be absolutely fine.

Noooooo, don’t give up! We all have off days, put it behind you and move upwards and onwards.

If you do feel at the very start of a run that you might not be at the top of your game, make it a slower run. It’s good to vary pace a bit anyway.

Not what you're looking for?
