Those of us registered to parkrun have just received an email from the top guy... he’s launching a new sports brand called Contra.
I’m posting this here as part of the ethos behind it is to cater for all sizes and shapes. The big sports brands make it difficult for a lot of us to buy running gear that fits our shapes... it seems pretty soon everyone will be able to be comfortable and dressed for the sport.
Maybe the big brands will take notice!
Edit: completed reading... the brand will be non profit, all profits will be going into parkrun, and they do those lovely free milestone shirts, the cost of which has been escalating as parkrun has grown.

That just came up In my FB feed. A great idea .. I hope it also includes tall being 6ft6 means it isn't easy to find running clothes thag fit..
No worries... I think reading the full email you’re actually one of the body shapes he’s looking at... he refers to being forced into buying plus sized and the labels that come with that. Makes sense you’d have to go bigger in size to accommodate the length and then it’s badly fitting.
I got all excited! Hope it’s ok to post... the not-for-profit status makes it ok in my book.
I can get clothes to fit, but I’m gonna buy some off these guys for sure. Ethically manufactured in Europe. No sweat shops involved... it’s about time!
It is fine to post, we often share helpful links On here, we draw the line at spam and touting your own business. I’ve lost count of the times Ive shared a link for water bottles or hydration backpacks. 😀.
I too received the email (signed up for park run so i'm ready when i'm ready ) but nearly deleted it as thought it was spam. Glad i read it though. It will be interesting to see the range, especially the non gender specific colour choices. I may be female but i don't want pink stripes on all my clothes!
And the no sweatshop ethos is good. I'm never entirely convinced when the big brands claim fair practice.
Just read it too. I too am sick of being forced into pink. All the decent coloured stuff I find is men’s and would just be huge on me. Hope they do clothes for small people who don’t like pink 🤞
I’ll wear pink! And yes, that’s the deal I think. I’ve looked around and they’re doing 10 sizes at launch... so I’m assuming all the sizes and fits we are used to but also in short and tall people. We shall see, but I’m pretty excited by them, especially as I said elsewhere that the people making the stuff are going to be paid a lot better than those that make the £100 premier league tops.
I’d just love not to HAVE to wear pink!! The more affordable stuff always has pink in it somewhere. More blokes should definitely wear pink, make it a unisex colour, like blue should be too 👍👍
