Challenging myself

Hi. I am new here. I am only in my 30s snd feel I must do something about my life. I started running and have done 2 runs so far. I don't know how long, as in distance, is each run.

I am a tad overweight and have athritis in my knees and hips so I am challenging myself to do this. Any tips and words of encouragment welcome.

Well done for getting started, that's the hardest part done. If you're interested in the distance you're covering, you can download a free app like mapmyrun on your phone and run it at the same time as the C25K app. But the C25K programme is more about gradually building up the minutes you are running so don't get too hung up on the distances. Lots of us graduate without getting to 5k in 30 minutes and that's fine. Run slow and steady for the first few weeks and you have a lifetime to increase speed and distance if you want to! Happy running and I read on here that running can really ywith arthritis and osteoporosis as it promotes bone cell growth!

Great for getting started just go slow and make sure you land as softly as possible so no thud thud when landing and drink loads of water 7 days a week good luck 😊

Hello Learn2run; welcome to C25K and this forum! Hopefully you’ll find loads of help and guidance here. I agree what the others have said - don’t worry too much about how far you’re running, just concentrate on completing each run as you build up strength. Take it slow - there’s a really good clip on Japanese Slow Running on You Tube which might help you. And don’t forget to let us know how you get on! Good luck!
